Iran to hear requests of jailed filmmakers Panahi, Nurizad
TEHRAN, May 22 (MNA) -- The Tehran prosecutor general has ordered the requests of jailed Iranian filmmakers Jafar Panahi and Mohammad Nurizad to be examined.
On Thursday, Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi visited Panahi and Nurizad, who made requests during their visit, the Islamic Revolution Court website reported.
No details were given about the filmmakers pleas.
Panahi was allowed to visit his family directly by an order from Dolatabadi at the same time.
According to the report, “Nurizad is in good health.”
Last week, it was rumored that Nurizad’s vision had been damaged after he was attacked by five people during outside recreation at the prison.
Nurizad, also a journalist, was detained following his objection to the Iranian government’s actions toward the opposition after the 2009 presidential election in Iran.
Panahi was arrested in early March allegedly for making a movie about the election.
Panahi has gone on a hunger strike to protest the circumstances of his detention.
