Iran’s largest water supply project comes on stream

TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) -- Iran’s largest water supply project was inaugurated today in the southwestern city of Khorramshahr, Khuzestan province.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the inauguration ceremony.

The project has been implemented at the cost of 13,000 billion rials (around $1.3 billion).

Some 675 kilometers of pipeline will supply drinking water to 21 cities of Khuzestan province.

The first phase of Khorramshahr combined-cycle power plant also put into operation in the presence of the president.

The power plant is comprised of four 162-megawatt gas units. The project cost 570 billion rials plus 157 million euro to complete.

The projects was inaugurated on May 24th to mark the liberation day of Khorramshahr in 1982 during the Iran-Iraq war.
