No application for rallies received: Tehran governor
TEHRAN, May 26 (MNA) – Tehran Governor General Morteza Tamaddon has said he has not received a request by reformists for staging demonstrations on the anniversary of the presidential election on June 12.
“We don’t think about it (reformists’ request) and we have not received anything. Don’t ask about the side issues and go and develop your country and don’t revive the dead seditious movements,” Tamaddon told reporters when asked about the reformists’ request for holding rallies on June 12.
Reformist leaders have announced that they have requested official permission for staging demonstrations on June 12.
Police will deal firmly with illegal demos
Meanwhile Tehran police chief Hossein Sajedinia said security forces will take firm action against any illegal rally.
“Police are vigilant, and have a duty to maintain order and security in the society, so it will deal firmly with any illegal rally,” Sajedinia said.
