8 grand ayatollahs approve of Tehran Municipality’s performance
TEHRAN, May 29 (MNA) -- Eight grand ayatollahs have expressed satisfaction with the Tehran Municipality’s performance.
Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Ghalibaf met separately with grand ayatollahs Nasser Makarem Shirazi, Jafar Sobhani, Abdollah Javadi Amoli, Abdolkarim Mousavi Ardebili, Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Hosseini Alavi Gorgani, Hossein Nouri Hamedani, Ali Safi Golpayegani, and Seyyed Mousa Shobeiri Zanjani in Qom on Thursday.
During the meetings, the Tehran mayor gave the senior clerics copies of a comprehensive report documenting the Tehran Municipality’s recent achievements and listing some of its major development plans for the future.
Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi praised the Tehran Municipality for its efforts to build up the capital and noted that its good performance of it duties will make the people become more attached to the Islamic Republic.
He pointed out that Islam has highlighted the importance of development, saying that a well-constructed capital in an Islamic country promotes Islam.
Grand Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli stated that the Tehran Municipality has managed to combine thinking and motivation.
Society can not be run solely by knowledge and science since motivation also plays a major role in efforts to attain goals, he noted.
Grand Ayatollah Ali Safi Golpayegani expressed satisfaction with the Tehran Municipality’s achievements but added that the needs of the underprivileged should be put at the top of its agenda.
