3 killed in Iran oil well fire
TEHRAN, May 29 (MNA) – A fire at an oil well in the Western town of Naftshahr on Saturday morning killed 3 people and injured 12 more.
Naftshahr, a satellite town of Qasr-e Shirin city in the western Kermanshah province, lies on the border between Iran and Iraq.
“Today morning at 6:35 am (2:05 GMT), a massive fire broke out in one of the main oil wells in Naftshahr due to the oil leakage,” said Bahram Teimouri, the governor of Qasr-e Shirin.
“Unfortunately 3 people were killed on the spot and 12 other were injured who were transferred to the Kermanshah’s Imam Khomeini hospital by helicopter,” he explained.
The blaze is so massive that the local fire department can not control it, “so we have called for help from neighboring provinces,” he added.
