Iran will not back down, even if sanctioned

TEHRAN, June 3 (MNA) -- Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani says Iran will not back down on its principled policy on its nuclear program, even if the UN Security Council passes another sanctions resolution against Iran.

“We will firmly stick to our policy toward the nuclear issue and will not retreat, even if a hundred more resolutions are issued,” Larijani said on Wednesday.

Iran is a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and observes international regulations, but if another sanctions resolution is passed, Iran will reconsider its relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency, he emphasized.

“We are monitoring your moves, and you (the global powers) cannot change your policy whenever you wish,” he stated.

“If you seek to trick (us), we in the Majlis will revise our conditions for cooperating with the agency,” he added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani pointed to the recent Israeli attack on the Freedom Flotilla and said the incident will be a good test for U.S. President Barack Obama’s honesty.

“If you seek to help Muslims, why did you side with Israel on this issue?”

Addressing the Israeli government, Larijani said Muslims will not halt their activities to help the oppressed people of the Gaza Strip just because some people have been killed, and humanitarian assistance missions will continue to be dispatched to the territory.

The Zionist regime has no option besides lifting the blockade of the Gaza Strip, he added.
