Iran's Deputy FM meets foreign diplomats

TEHRAN, June 3 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian and Oceanian Affairs, Mohammad Mahdi Akhoundzadeh, met with ambassadors from European, Asian, African, Latin American, and Oceanian countries in Tehran on Sunday to discuss the shocking Israeli attack on the Gaza-bound aid convoys in international waters.

In his meetings, Akhoundzadeh strongly condemned Israel for its “violent attack” on the Freedom Flotilla on May 31 in which 19 people were killed and dozens more were injured.

He said the Israeli act represented “inattention to international law and insensitiveness to the most basic humanitarian considerations.”

The top Iranian official also maintained that the humanitarian aid convoy had breached no international rules or regulations.

The brutal attack faced an international condemnation which would further isolate the Zionist regime, he noted.

But, Akhoundzadeh called on the international community to fulfill its moral duty and not be content with verbal condemnation.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a statement on Tuesday in which he strongly condemned Israel’s blatant disregard of human rights and flagrant breach of international law.

Ayatollah Khamenei stated the aid flotilla was not an Islamic or Arab convoy, rather it represented international public opinion and humanity’s conscience in general.

The Leader said this outrageous attack provides irrefutable proof that Zionism is the new face of fascism.
