Asian Parliamentary Assembly urges action against Israel

TEHRAN, June 3 (MNA) – Parliamentarians from Asian states, including the parliament speakers of Indonesia, Syria and Iran, meeting in Tehran on Tuesday called for the prosecution of Israeli officials who ordered an attack on a Gaza-bound aid convoy.

A draft communiqué, issued at the end of the meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), condemned the attack as “a grave act of war crime,” and “an act of state terrorism,” and called on the UN Security Council to take measures to bring those responsible for attack to justice.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has stated that Palestine is the most important human rights issue in the world and called the Zionist regime the new face of fascism.

On Monday morning Israeli commandos attacked a flotilla of aid-carrying ships aiming to break the country's siege on Gaza. At least 19 people were killed and dozens injured when troops intercepted the convoy of ships.

The flotilla was attacked in international waters.
