Anyone backed by enemies can’t be Imam Khomeini follower: Leader
TEHRAN, June 5 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Friday that any person who is supported by the enemies of the Islamic Revolution including the U.S. and Israel cannot claim to be a “follower” of Imam Khomeini.
The Leader said persons are judged based on their current behavior and not their previous positions.
"People will be judged based on their current acts not their past positions," the Leader said in a speech to hundreds of thousands of people who had gathered at the shrine of Imam Khomeini to mark his 21st demise anniversary.
The Leader said Imam Khomeini’s path is the best guide showing who is really serving the interests of the Islamic Revolution.
“The path of Imam was reflected in his behavior, words, and will.”
“If America, Israel, monarchists, hypocrites and other enemies of Imam gather around a person and praise him and that person claim that I am follower of Imam (his) claim is unacceptable… because Imam clearly insisted that when the enemies of Islam praise us we should know that we are a traitor.”
In a reference to those who stood against the ideals of Imam Khomeini on the Qods day rallies and caused the scandal on the day marking the Ashura rituals, the Leader said, “If a person expresses sympathy or be silent toward the moves that are basically in contrast to the ideals of Imam, the nation, by finding out the realities, will not accept the claims of that person as an Imam’s follower.”
On the Qods day rallies on September 26 last year some protestors chanted slogans incongruent to the basic tenets of the Islamic Revolution, and on December 27 - a day which fell on Ashura - demonstrators showed disrespect for religious sanctities.
"One cannot say I am follower of imam and then align with those who clearly and frankly carry the flag opposing the imam and Islam," the Leader explained.
The Leader went on to say that Imam Khomeini repeatedly insisted that the criterion for making judgments about a person’s loyalty to the Islamic Revolution is his current position not his past.
Elsewhere in his speech the Leader said the Israeli raid on the Gaza-bound aid flotilla “showed how barbaric the Zionists are."
