No permission for opposition rally: Tehran governor
TEHRAN, June 12 (MNA) – Tehran governor general Morteza Tamadon says no permission has been issued for holding rallies by the opposition groups on the anniversary of the June 12 presidential election.
Police will deal firmly with those who attend any illegal gathering, Tamadon said.
“No permit has been issued for holding gathering on Khordad 22 (June 12) and the lawbreakers will be legally dealt with,” he told the Mehr News Agency on Friday.
Defeated candidates in last year’s presidential election had asked authorities for permission to stage demonstrations.
“We did not see any reason to give them permission,” he added.
