India for holistic policies to check job loss in Asia-Pacific
New Delhi, June 16 (PTI) India has favoured creation of
policies aimed at checking loss of employment and increase in
jobs in the Asia-pacific region, which has a high
concentration of labour force.
Underlining the need for such a approach, Indian Labour
and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said given the
vulnerabilities of the work force in this region, situation in
the labour market calls for more focused and coordinated
policies in the process of recovery by targeting generation of
more employment opportunities, skill upgradation etc.
Kharge was addressing delegates from Asia-Pacific region
at the sidelines of ILO General Assembly in Geneva.
According to a government release, Kharge emphasised on
the need for Asian and Pacific countries to achieve greater
coordination and putting across their common view point on
labour and employment issues at the global forum.

policy responses to the economic slowdown, which are
particularly effective during the time of crisis.
