Rigi’s accomplices standing trial Today
TEHRAN, June 22 (MNA) — The chief of Sistan-Baluchestan Justice Department has said that 10 accomplices of Abdolmalek Rigi will be put on trial on Tuesday.
The court will be held before cameras, Ebrahim Hamidi said on Monday.
If the court establishes that any individual has assisted the Rigi group, he will be dealt with severely, Hamidi said.
Those who will stand trial on Tuesday are charged with entering into the country illegally to do sabotage acts, the provincial official explained.
Abdolmalek Rigi who was charged with 79 offenses was hanged at Tehran’s Evin prison early on Sunday morning.
The Iranian security forces detained Rigi on February 23 on board a flight from the United Arab Emirates to Kyrgyzstan. The plane landed at Bandar Abbas Airport, where Rigi and his aide were arrested.
While in custody, Abdolmalek Rigi confessed that his group received financial and logistical support from the U.S. forces stationed in Afghanistan.
