"Iran’s nuclear activities will never stop"
KHORAMABAD, June 29 (MNA) – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Monday that nuclear activities will never stop in Iran.
“With regard to Iran’s nuclear issue, you will take this wish to grave if you think that nuclear technology in Iran will stop,” Larijani said in response to the G8 statement against Iran.
The leaders of the G8 nations who recently met in Canada claimed they are concerned about Iran’s “stated intention to continue and expand enriching uranium” including its attempt to enrich uranium to 20 percent to power its nuclear research reactor.
Larijani said, “Do they imagine that can stop (the progress of Iran’s) nuclear technology with resolutions?”
Nothing can influence the Iranian people’s determination to achieve progress, he said, adding, “You cannot do anything with these resolutions.”
The senior lawmaker also responded to the West’s criticism of human rights in Iran, saying the U.S. should be ashamed of its human rights record.
“You have committed so many crimes in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo prisons…now are you worried about human rights in Iran? You are killers who even attacked a wedding party in Afghanistan under the pretext of fight against terrorism. You should be tried.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said, “We must refrain from unimportant arguments. All strength should be directed to achieve the Islamic revolution’s objectives and improve the economic status of the country.”
There is an important issue and that is the economic status of people and all should make efforts to improve people’s economic status, he stated.
All should think about the country’s economy, he said. “If the atmosphere of the society is peaceful people are free and neither the Majlis nor the administration can limit their rights.”
