Iran calls on Interpol to cooperate in drug fight
TEHRAN, July 3 (MNA) – Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar has called on the Interpol members to cooperate more on the fight against drug smuggling.
Due to the presence of occupiers in Afghanistan, the production of drugs in the country has increased hugely over the past years, therefore, the Interpol members should strengthen their resolve to combat drug smuggling from Afghanistan to other nations, Najjar said in a meeting with Interpol Secretary General Ronald K. Noble in Tehran on Wednesday.
Iran has spent a lot of money in campaign against drug smugglers so it is necessary that other countries take an active part in this regard in order to eradicate drug trafficking, he stated.
The minister went on to say that Tehran is ready to cooperate with the Interpol in fight against organized crime, money laundering, illegal travels and so forth.
Iran and the Interpol have established good cooperation at regional and international levels, he added.
