National TV reflects intellectual identity of Iran: Leader

TEHRAN, July 4 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has stated that national television reflects the intellectual identity of the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remarks at a meeting with national television industry managers and personnel in Tehran on Saturday.

The national media is a great university that should promote godliness and humanity and disseminate cultural, social, and political knowledge throughout society, the Leader quoted the late Imam Khomeini as saying.

And the fact that the enemies are exploiting the video arts to influence public opinion proves the great potential of this art form, he observed.

The Leader also warned the artistic community not to cross religious, cultural, and moral red lines when producing films and television series.

Ayatollah Khamenei praised Iranian media artists and managers, and especially Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Director Ezzatollah Zarghami, for their efforts to enhance the quality of national television.

Zarghami also gave a speech on the importance of national television at the gathering.

The national television industry shoulders a great responsibility when it comes to countering the soft war techniques used by the enemy, he stated.
