Iran has cooperated with IAEA based on its commitments

TEHRAN, July 4 (MNA) -- Iran has been cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency within the framework of its commitments, Tehran’s permanent envoy to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh has said.

There has been no obstacle for the IAEA inspectors to come to Iran to inspect the country’s nuclear facilities, Soltanieh told in an interview with the ISNA news agency published on Saturday.

He said in certain IAEA reports some unfounded allegations, which were made by countries like the U.S., have resulted in disputes between Iran and the agency.

However, Iran presented documents with complete transparency to prove that those allegations were baseless, he added.

Soltanieh also said Iran has always been insisting on expansion of cooperation with the agency in different areas of nuclear energy including medical, agricultural, and industrial spheres.

The belief that the agency is merely an inspective and controlling organization must be eliminated, Soltanieh suggested.

The IAEA, as a specialist and independent organization, should serve the country members, he stated.

Carrying out inspections is only a part of the agency’s job within the Non-Proliferation Treaty regulations, he said, adding that the agency should not be overridden by these inspections when it comes to expansion of ties with countries.
