Gaza blockade rooted in 63-year occupation: diplomat
DAMASCUS, July 4 (MNA) – The Gaza crisis has not been created overnight to also expect to be resolved “fast” as it has its root in the 63-year occupation of Palestine, Iran’s ambassador to Syria said.
Recently 15 parliament speakers from Islamic countries met in Damascus to explore ways to break the siege of Gaza. Some vice speakers also participated in the conference. In the meeting the Iranian Majlis speaker presented eleven proposals to help break the blockade.
“31 Islamic countries participated in the summit which was of high significance,” Hojatoleslam Seyyed Ahmad Mousavi told the Mehr News Agency.
Mousavi described the inter-parliamentary summit as “good” and “fruitful”.
The cleric ambassador expressed hope that the ratifications of the summit would be implemented, saying, “A delegation is responsible to pursue the ratifications of the Damascus summit.”
