Washington responsible for safety of Iranian national

TEHRAN, July 5 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast called Washington responsible for the safety of the Iranian nuclear scientist who was abducted by CIA on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.

Iran has submitted the relevant evidence on the kidnapping of Shahram Amiri to the Foreign Interests Section of the Embassy of Switzerland in Tehran

The Foreign Interests Section of the Embassy of Switzerland acts as protecting power for the interest of the U.S. in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Shahram Amiri, a university researcher working for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, was kidnapped by American agents during a pilgrimage to the holy city of Medina last year.

"We expect the U.S. government, upon its duty and promise of the State Department spokesman, declare results of their investigations about the Iranian citizen soon," Mehmanparast stated on Sunday.

Tehran holds the U.S. “responsible for the kidnap and safety of Shahram Amiri and thus, it would utilize all its capacities to protect Mr. Amiri and all other Iranian nationals,” he explained.
