Book on kidnapped Iranian diplomats comes out in English
TEHRAN, July 5 (MNA) -- English version of the book “Ambush of July 1982” was unveiled during a ceremony on Sunday at the Resaneh Cultural Center. The book centers on the unknown fate of the four Iranian nationals who were captured by the Zionist regime in Lebanon.
Compiled by Hamid Davudabadi and published by Paydari Cultural Center, the book contains all the news and reports published by the Iranian media about the unknown fate of the four diplomats who were captured while traveling to southern Lebanon in 1982.
The four nationals were charge d’affaires Mohsen Musavi, military attaché of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ahmad Motevasselian, Taqi Rastegar Moqaddam, a diplomat from the embassy, and Kazem Akhavan, a reporter and photographer from the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Director of the Foundation for the Preservation and Publication of Sacred Defense Works and Values, General Mir-Feisal Baqerzadeh and several Iranian authors attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Davudabadi said, “Today marks the day when the 4 Iranian nationals were captured 28 years ago. All these years, both Iranian and foreign media have ignored this event, and have not pursued the case seriously.
“All these 28 years that I have been following the news of the 4 diplomats, I observed only one serious statement released on this occasion in the country,” he said, adding, “From personal interest and a sense of responsibly, I have collected all the Iranian and international news and reports about the diplomats in this book. Also included is several more news items I have collected during my trip to Lebanon.”
The book acts as a reference book for researchers, students and all those who are interested in the fate of the four diplomats, he remarked.
Their families still expect to see them after all these years and we hope they will finally hear news of them, Davudabadi said.
