‘Israel’s Iran threats aimed to distract intl. pressure from Tel Aviv’

TEHRAN, July 5 (MNA) – Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi said on Monday that the Zionist regime’s threats against Iran are aimed at distracting international pressure from Tel Aviv, an indirect reference to the murder of peace activists by Israeli commandos on May 31 which triggered an international outcry.

The defense minister also said Israel is not in a position to make military threats against Iran. “We do not see any potential in the Zionist regime to pose any threat against the Islamic Republic,” Vahidi said.

Asked about Tehran’s reaction if its aid ships to Gaza are inspected by Israel, he said the call to inspect Iran’s ships is being mentioned only by two countries.

Undoubtedly, those countries which really care about regional and international security will not pay attention to such calls, he noted.

Moreover, it is not logical to create tension simply because of two countries’ demands, he noted.

However, if such things happen, Iran has its own options and Tehran will defend its interests in a proper way, the minister warned.
