Iran has been on the side of Afghans
TEHRAN, June 6 (MNA) – Iran has always been on the side of Afghanistan and made efforts to safeguard the interests of the Afghan nation, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki told Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Eklil Ahmad Hakimi.
Hakimi thanked Iran for making efforts to maintain peace and security in Afghanistan. Hakimi also called for the expansion of consular cooperation with Tehran.
Elsewhere in his talks, Mottaki said developments in Afghanistan have put the presence of foreign forces in the country under question.
For example, Mottaki said, the production and smuggling of drugs have risen extensively since foreign troops entered the country.
Iran’s top diplomat also said there has been a surge in extremism in Afghanistan since the toppling of the Taliban regime.
