Afghan delegation visits national art show in Tehran

TEHRAN, July 6 (MNA) -- An 80-member delegation from Afghanistan traveled to Iran to visit the Afghan contemporary art exhibition which is currently underway at the Saba Art and Cultural Institute.

The delegation that includes officials, cultural figures, artists, poets, reporters, journalists, writers, and heads of Afghan press and media, have been invited by the Iranian Majlis to visit the showcase.

Paintings and calligraphy artwork in novel styles as well as 100 photos taken from contemporary life of Afghans are on display at the exhibit that opened on June 29.

After their visit, the delegation attended a meeting with the Iranian Academy of Arts director Ali Mo’allem Damghani who addressed his Afghan guests.

“Iran and Afghanistan are not separated and we are eager to know more about Afghan contemporary art and literature,” Damghani mentioned during the meeting.

The exhibit aims to introduce modern Afghan artists, their culture, and aesthetics to Iranians and to boost cultural artistic ties between the two countries.

The Saba Institute is affiliated with Iran’s Academy of Art and is located on Mozaffar St., off Taleqani Ave. near Felestin Square.
