611 Japan companies accept capital contributions from China firms+
TOKYO, July 9 Kyodo -
Chinese companies had equity stakes in 611 Japanese firms as of June, a
2.6-fold increase compared to five years ago, according to data released Friday
by credit research company Teikoku Databank Ltd.
Laox Co., a major appliance retail chain operator, and Honma Golf Co. are among
the 611 Japanese companies, Teikoku Databank said.
Of the total, 323 companies, or 52.9 percent, were wholesalers, while service
companies and manufacturers accounted for 22.3 and 11.3 percent, respectively.
Chinese companies are expected to contribute capital to more Japanese
businesses whose technologies and brands are attractive to them, Teikoku
Databank said.
Japanese companies, for their part, want access to Chinese firms' financial
prowess and marketing routes.
Leading Japanese apparel maker Renown Inc. will issue new shares to Shandong
Ruyi Science & Technology Group Co. at the end of July to come under the
Chinese textile firm's wing.
