Regional approach best way to solve Afghanistan crisis: Iran's FM
KABUL, Afghanistan, July 20 (MNA) – In a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Kabul on Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said a secure Afghanistan will help promote stability and security in the region.
Mottaki, who has travelled to Kabul to participate in an international conference in Afghanistan, highlighted the necessity of adopting a regional approach toward the Afghanistan crisis, the Mehr News Agency correspondent who is travelling with Mottaki reported.
Senior foreign dignitaries including UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon have gathered in Kabul Today to discuss Afghanistan’s priorities on different areas.
Hamid Karzai called for trilateral cooperation among Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
In another meeting, Mottaki held talks with his Afghan counterpart Zalmai Rassoul and expressed hope that the conference would produce positive results.
Rassoul described Iran’s presence in the conference as “significant”, calling for further regional cooperation.
The two foreign ministers exchanged views on different issues including transportation, mining, agriculture, energy, and security.
