Iran wins gold in U-23 rowing tourney
TEHRAN, July 26 (MNA) -- Iranian Mohsen Shadi claimed the gold medal in the 2010 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Brest, Belarus on Sunday.
The 22-year-old rower clocked 7:17:93 minutes in the Lightweight men’s single sculler and snatched the gold medal. Shadi had won gold in the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Racice, Czech Republic last year.
“It was a good race. I am very happy with my result,” said Mohsen Shadi.
Shadi is preparing himself for the 2010 Asian Games which takes place in Guangzhou, China from November 12 to November 27, 2010.
About 900 rowers from a total of 58 nations took part in the 2010 World Rowing Under 23 Championships. Germany and the U.S. brought the largest teams to Belarus, each with 69 athletes distributed among 21 boats.
