EU foreign policy U.S.-based: Iran's FM
TEHRAN, July 31 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has criticized the European Union for following U.S. foreign policy with regard to Iran’s nuclear program.
EU’s recently issued sanctions against Iran is a sign of indecisiveness in its foreign policy and shows that the EU is under the influence of U.S. foreign policy, Mottaki stated at a meeting with Ireland’s new ambassador to Tehran, Oliver Grogan, on Wednesday.
Grogan submitted his credentials to the Iranian foreign minister at the meeting.
Iran welcomes an EU with independent foreign policy, Mottaki added.
The ambassador, for his part, called for the expansion of bilateral ties between Iran and Ireland.
The EU adopted new sets of sanctions on Monday targeting Iran’s foreign trade, banks and insurance companies, and energy sectors.
The latest EU sanctions are a continuation of similar unilateral measures the U.S. Congress adopted against Iran on June 24.
