'Iran will respond to any attack beyond geographical borders'
TEHRAN, Aug. 2 (MNA) – Iran’s defensive measures against any possible attack will not be limited to the country’s geographical boundary, an IRGC official said on Sunday.
Yadollah Javani, the chief of the political department of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, made the remarks in an interview with the Mehr News Agency.
Pointing to a statement issued by the U.S. Congress in support of an Israeli plan to attack Iran, Javani said that any military action against Iran will disrupt global peace.
Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have introduced a measure that would green-light a possible Israeli bombing campaign against Iran.
Resolution 1553 provides explicit support for military strikes against Iran, stating that Congress backs Israel’s use of “all means necessary” against Iran, “including the use of military force,” according to Press TV.
The IRGC official also said the Zionist regime and the United States are doubtful about launching an attack on Iran due to a number of reasons including Iran’s “military-defensive” capabilities.
Almost all Western military experts believe that attacking Iran would be a very tough undertaking with ambiguous consequences, he noted.
Meanwhile, MP Esmaeil Kosari said that any attack against Iran would result in total demolition of Israel.
Speaking to the Mehr News Agency on Sunday, Kosari said, “We are capable to respond to any act against Iran from all parts of the globe.”
He also called the U.S. Congress measure a psychological warfare.
