TEHRAN, Aug. 2 (MNA) – In a meeting in Tehran on Sunday Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar and Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Iran highlighted the necessity to fight terrorism in the region.
Iran and Saudi Arabia can play a key role in maintaining Muslim unity through a better cooperation, Najjar told Mohammad bin Abbas al-Kalabi.
Iranian minister referred to the Saudi-Iranian security agreement, calling for closer cooperation in campaign against organized crimes, drug, and human trafficking.
Saudi Arabia and Iran signed an agreement in April 2001 to increase joint security cooperation.
Najjar also called on Riyadh to facilitate Hajj pilgrimage for Iranians.
Al-Kalabi, for his part, expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Iran in fight against terrorism and organized crimes.
