‘Navy will retaliate to any inspection of Iranian ships’

BANDAR ABBAS, Aug. 4 (MNA) – The Navy will forcefully deal with any country that poses a threat to Iran’s trade ships and oil tankers, Army Commander Ataollah Salehi said on Tuesday.

The new UN Security Council resolution allows inspection of Iranian ships.

Salehi also said the Iranian army is ready to conduct military operations against any country who seeks to put Iran’s interests in danger.

The commander made remarks in Hormozgan province at the coast of the Persian Gulf.

The Iranian navy has made great progresses over the past three years and is carrying out missions in far seas including the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, Salehi stated.

The Islamic Republic of Iran conducted an eight-day maneuver in early May, covering a span of about 250,000 square kilometers from the Strait of Hormuz to the northern Indian Ocean.

At present, 25 countries are carrying out missions in the Gulf of Aden which are members of a union and use each other’s ports, while Iran’s navy is the only navy being remote controlled from within the country.
