URMIA, Iran, Aug. 7 (MNA) -- Iran qualified for the final match of the 2nd Asian Men’s Cup Volleyball Championship here on Friday.
The Persians fought back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the powerful Indian outfit 3-2 (25-19, 22-25, 20-25, 25-17, and 15-11) at the packed Al-Ghadir Hall.
“We had a difficult match against India. We overpowered them with the support of our fans and I thank them,” Iran coach Hossein Madani said.
Now, the team is scheduled to play the winner of the China vs. Taiwan match on Saturday.
Iran won the first edition of the competitions by beating South Korea in the final game in Thailand in September 2008.
