Foreign ambassadors visit historical castle in southwestern Iran

TEHRAN, Aug. 7 (MNA) -- A group of foreign ambassadors in Iran visited the historical Castle of Chaleshtor in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari Province in southwestern part of the country on Thursday.

Coming from 30 different countries, the ambassadors were accompanied by several high ranking officials from their respective embassies.

Guests were also warmly received by local musicians who played traditional music of the region upon their arrival.

Constructed in 1903, the castle features a combination of Qajar era and European architecture standing out on the landscape with its 38 stone pillars. The year 1321 lunar calendar (1903) is engraved on one of its capitals indicating the date of its construction.

The castle embraces five ivans and five rooms. The rooms are decorated with paintings in a style that is a combination of Iranian and Western painting. It also houses a large bathhouse, several storerooms and stables.

Visits to several other sites in the region were also arranged for the guests on the same day.
