UN sanctions not to affect Iran's gas exports to Bahrain
MANAMA, Aug. 8 (MNA) -- Bahrain’s gas imports from Iran will not be affected by UN sanctions against Tehran, Iranian Ambassador to Manama said.
SHANA quoted Hossein Amir Abdollahian as saying that, “Tehran and Manama have lived together peacefully for centuries, and they do not allow any third party to undermine their bilateral ties.”
“The UN Security Council sanctions against Iran do not cover the export of Iran’s gas to Bahrain,” he added.
Iran has the world’s second largest natural gas reserves after Russia, accounting for around 15 percent of the world’s total reserves.
“Iran has expressed readiness to provide Bahrain with its needed gas, in line with the priority of exporting gas to neighbors,” he explained.
“Investment in Iran’s upstream oil and gas projects is proposed to any country interested in importing gas from Iran,” the official said.
