TEHRAN, Aug. 9 (MNA) -- The 18th International Holy Quran Exhibition opened during a ceremony at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Mosalla on Saturday.

The exhibit, whose motto is “Quran, Book of Life”, began a few days before Ramadan and will be open every day from 5:00 pm to 12 midnight until September 3.

The ceremony was attended by several scholars and officials including Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini.

At the ceremony, the deputy culture minister for Quranic affairs Hojjatoleslam Hamid Mohammadi said that cooperation among different Iranian organizations at the exhibition “is one of the main policies of this edition of the exhibition”.

“We have invited 35 countries to participate at the Quran and Culture of Islamic nations Section of the festival this year,” Mohammadi added.

The Minister of Culture Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini also spoke on the benefits of the Holy Quran for today’s society and explained about the most recent edition of festival.

“It is an honor for the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to host the Quran exhibition annually and I hope this showcase promotes the holding of such events in other parts of world,” Hosseini mentioned.

Several new sections are added to this year’s edition of the exhibit including theatrical performances, a photo exhibit, poetry and literature, Quran and culture of Islamic nations, and sunny nights

“Over 340 Iranian publishers and 15 foreign publishing firms are displaying their products at the exhibit. Over 90 companies are also offering their Quranic software products, and 16 troupes give their performances in every corner of the Mosalla during the event, minister Hosseini previously mentioned in a press conference.

The sunny night section provides the chance for visitors to observe the stars at night via several telescopes set up at the courtyard of the Mosalla.
