ENVIRONMENT MINISTRY TO MONITOR AIR QUALITY IN BATAM
Batam, Riau, July 24 (ANTARA) - The environment ministry will in 2009 install devices in Batam to monitor the quality of the air on the industrialized island.
"The devices will be installed in three types of area : industrial, commercial and residential, the head of the Batam Environmental Impact Management Agency, Dendy Purnama, said here on Thursday.
Batam was prone to air pollution because it had become an industrial hub with ship-docking facilities and manufacturing plants so that the quality of its air needed to be closely monitored, Purnama said.
