Ahmadinejad congratulates leaders of Islamic states on Ramadan

TEHRAN, Aug. 13 (MNA) – Through separate telephone conversations, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad congratulated leaders of Qatar, Iraq, Syria, and Algeria on the commencement of the fasting month of Ramadan.

In a telephone conversation with the Qatari emir, the two sides called for the expansion of interactions between the Islamic and regional countries.

They also said the two countries should expand relations in all areas.

In his telephone talks with the Iraqi president, Ahmadinejad said unity between Muslims is essential for maintaining security in the region. Ahmadinejad also said that Iran backs national unity in Iraq.

The Iraqi president, for his part, said Iran’s support has been highly effective in fostering unity among Iraqis.

Ahmadinejad also told his Syrian counterpart that the expansion of ties between Tehran and Damascus will have great impact on their future cooperation.

For his part, Syria’s president said the two nations share similar views on political and international issues and such views will benefit the interests of both sides.

Speaking with the Algerian president, Ahmadinejad said integrity and unity between the Islamic countries will help them eradicate injustice in the world.
