Official puts cost of Iranian expatriates meeting at $1.5 million

TEHRAN, Aug. 17 (MNA) – An official has estimated the expenses of the conference of Iranian expatriates at 1 to 1.5 million dollars.

The two-day conference of Iranian expatriates was held in Tehran in early August.

The report that $80 million has been spent on the conference is not correct, said Mohammad Sharif Malekzadeh, head of the Supreme Council of Iranian Expatriates.

The supporting documents are available, and the council is ready to release it to the media, he told the Mehr News Agency.

Malekzadeh also denied the report that only the round-trip tickets for the 1200 participants cost more than his estimate, adding the 1 to 1.5 million dollars is an overall estimate of all the expenses.

He went on to say that the date of the third conference of Iranian expatriates will be announced in two weeks.
