Lithuania defeats Iran basketball in YOG
SINGAPRE, Aug. 17 (MNA) -- Iran basketball 3-on-3 team was defeated by Lithuania in the Olympic Youth Games on Monday.
Iran, who had defeated Egypt in its opening game, lost to the Lithuanian outfit 29-18 in Group B.
“Iran showed a good performance against Lithuania who is the European champion. If we defeat Argentina on Tuesday we will advance to the second round,” Iran coach Qasem Kiani said.
A total of 16 basketball teams are participating in four groups in the event.
The 2010 Youth Olympic Games has brought together 3,600 athletes ages 14 to 18 from 204 countries competing in 26 sports.
