Iran MPs to discuss impeachment motion against agriculture minister
TABRIZ, Aug. 18 (MNA) – Three members of the parliament’s presiding board and the writers of the impeachment motion against Agricultural Jihad Minister Sadeq Khalilian will meet soon to discuss the issue, MP Mohammad Hossein Farhangi said on Wednesday.
The impeachment motion suffers a superficial problem which will be studied and rectified in this meeting, Farhangi told the Mehr News Agency correspondent in Tabriz.
Presiding board's members Mohammad Hossein Farhangi, from the city of Tabriz, Mohsen Kouhkan representing Lanjan, and Seyyed Jasem Saedi from Shush will discuss the issue with the concerned MPs, he noted.
Farhangi added that the exact date of the session will be announced soon.
In early July, 30 lawmakers lodged an impeachment complaint against Khalilian to the parliament’s presiding board.
They had cited excessive import of agricultural products, Khalilian’s incompetence, and disregard for insurance fund of agricultural crops as the major reasons to impeach the minister.
