Iran girls’ soccer team advance to YOG semifinal
SINGAPORE, Aug. 18 (MNA) -- Iranian girls’ soccer team qualified for the semifinal round of the Singapore Youth Olympic Games after Turkey defeated Papua New Guinea on Wednesday.
Turkey, who defeated Iran 4-2 in Group A in its opening game, beat PNG 4-0 at the Jalan Besar Stadium and advanced to the semifinal round with six points.
Iran booked a berth in the stage as the second team in the group. Iran has already defeated PNG in the competition.
Iran is scheduled to play in the semifinal on Saturday.
