Iran baketball 3-on-3 overpowers Panama

SINGAPORE, Aug. 18 (MNA) -- Iran basketball 3-on-3 team beat Panama in the Youth Olympic Games here on Wednesday.

Iran, who had defeated Egypt and lost to Lithuania and Argentina in the competition, edged Panama 29-21 in Group B at the Scape Youth Space.

“To be here in the Olympic Youth Games is a great experience for us. Iran will likely fail to advance to the next stage but I am satisfied with the way my players played in the tournament,” Iran coach Ghasem Kiani said.

A total of 16 basketball teams are participating in four groups in the event.

The 2010 Youth Olympic Games has brought together 3,600 athletes ages 14 to 18 from 204 countries competing in 26 sports.
