PJAK member arrested in northwest Iran: commander
TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – Police have arrested a terrorist member of the PJAK group at Iran’s northwestern mountains, a border commander announced on Sunday.
PJAK is an offshoot of the internationally-recognized terrorist group, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), that conducts deadly operations in Kurdish-populated regions of Iran.
Sirus Sajjadian also said in another operation, police succeeded to seize 400 kilograms of drugs from smugglers across southeastern Sistan Baluchestan’s border, but the dealers fled to Pakistan.
Over the past four days border police have seized 11 light guns, 2 rocket-propelled grenades (RPG), 63,733 liters of smuggled fuel, 12,043 bottles of alcoholic drink, and 1,134,600 cigarettes, the police officer announced.
