Iran's parliament expresses commitment to Leader’s guidelines on unity
TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – 249 members of the parliament issued a statement on Sunday reaffirming their commitment to the guidelines set by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The statement came in response to the Leader’s recent address to a large gathering of senior state officials in which he advised the people and state officials to maintain unity and solidarity.
Asadollah Badamchian of the Islamic Coalition Party also said on Sunday that the Islamic Coalition Party is planning to hold joint meetings with other political parties with respect to the Leader’s recent comments.
The MPs hailed the Leader’s thorough understanding of the current state of affairs and said that his remarks should serve as a “wake up call” for the Muslim world.
The MPs also stated that the Leader’s comments on the nature of the United States and the Zionist regime would help foil the enemy’s plots against the Islamic Republic.
The Iranian nation took great pride in the Leader’s remark who stated “we are interested in dialogue but not with the United States,” the statement said.
In an address to the parliament on Sunday, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani also elaborated on the Leader’s remarks.
He thanked Ayatollah Khamenei for his enlightening remarks and advised the nation to pay heed to those comments.
The Leader’s statements should be held up as an example of “political ethics”, he said.
Larijani referred to the new opinion polls conducted across the Arab world and said, 88 percent of the respondents identified the Zionist regime as a danger to the Arab states, and 77 percent said the United States poses a threat to the Arab countries.
“They should at least pay attention to their own polling,” he added.
