Unity is essential in face of threats: Iran's Rafsanjani
TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (MNA) – Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has said it is essential to maintain unity in the face of outside threats.
Now, the people and authorities are facing difficult tests, thus they should show patience and make efforts to pass these tests, Rafsanjani told a gathering of clerics in Tehran on Sunday.
He drew a comparison between the current situation and the years leading up to the end of the Iran-Iraq war when the United States and its allies were mounting increasing pressure on Iran. “The situation today is not more critical than those times.”
“The greatest victory for the Islamic Republic today is to pass the tests of unity and solidarity… because the outside threats have always been there and will continue to be there” he added.
He also called on clergies to maintain their independence and stand by the oppressed.
