Peru, Malawi’s ambassadors meet Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, Aug. 25 (MNA) – In separate meetings the new accredited ambassadors of Peru and Malawi submitted their credentials to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

In the meeting on Tuesday with Javier Paolonich, Peru's new ambassador to Tehran, Ahmadinejad said Iran is interested in expanding ties with Latin American countries including Peru.

The two countries can share experiences in different spheres with the aim to expand ties, the president stated.

The Peruvian ambassador, for his part, said Lima attaches great importance to relations with Tehran.

After taking office in 2005, President Ahmadinejad expanded Iran's relation with many Latin American states, including Venezuela and Cuba.

The U.S. has repeatedly voiced its concern over Iran's growing influence in Latin America and its close ties with leftist leaders in the region.

In his meeting with Jaffali Mussa, the Malawian ambassador to Tehran, on Monday Ahmadinejad expressed Iran’s readiness to expand ties with Malawi in different areas including agriculture and industry.

Independent countries can work hand in hand to change the present condition in the world so that all can live in an atmosphere of peace and justice, the president added.

For his part, Jaffali Mussa said Malawi welcomes an expansion of ties with Tehran.

The Republic of Malawi is a landlocked country in southeast Africa bordered by Zambia, Tanzania, and Mozambique.
