Cultural bridge to join Hafez and Shams-i Tabrizi

TEHRAN, Aug. 28 (MNA) -- The two Iranian provinces of Fars and West Azerbaijan have recently signed an agreement to boost their bilateral cultural collaboration.

Based on the agreement, Iranian and foreign experts invited to the international congress on Hafez in October will discuss semantic relationships among the poetry of Hafez, Shams and Rumi, Fars governor general’s deputy Hamed Dahqanan said on Friday.

Born in the city of Tabriz, Shams lived together with Rumi in Konya for several years. Shams was immortalized in Rumi’s collection of poetry named the “Divan of Shams ad-Din of Tabriz”. Shams is buried in Khoy, West Azerbaijan.

Also, officials in Khoy will be holding a Shams international congress in November, where experts from Fars will actively participate, he remarked.

This will help introduce Persian poets to the world in the most effective way possible.
