Six Iran ministries to transfer employees to provincial offices
TEHRAN Sept. 6 (MNA) – Six ministries including the ministries of industries, transportation, science, and agriculture plan to transfer at least 40 percent of their workforce from Tehran to other cities, Vice President for Human Recourses Lotfollah Foruzandeh has announced.
Likewise, all state companies and organizations are required to transfer 40 percent of their workforce from the capital, and state companies are not permitted to expand their activities in Tehran, Foruzandeh told reporters on Sunday.
“We have planned to transfer 80 thousands of workers and so far 18 thousands have volunteered to be transferred,” he added.
He also emphasized that the transfers are not compulsory and government encourages employees to leave Tehran by offering incentives.
Responding to criticisms voiced by some experts about such a move, he said it is a time-consuming job and needs patience and precise planning.
Asked about the negative effects of a decrease in working hours during the fasting month of Ramadan, he said he believes that reducing working hours will increase workers’ motivation. He added eight-hour work per day is based on Western models which is not appropriate for Iran.
The move to relocate state organizations and transfer workers from Tehran to other cities came as President Ahmadinejad called for reduction in the population of Tehran.
