Fukuoka festival to screen Iranian films
TEHRAN, Sept. 13 (MNA) -- Iranian films will go on screen at the Focus on Asia Fukuoka International Film Festival which will be held from September 17 to 26 in Japan.
“Baduk” by award-winning Iranian director Majid Majidi will go on screen at the Special Feature of the festival.
Majidi’s debut film, “Baduk” narrates the story of a brother and sister who become separated after their father is killed. The brother is forced to assist a goods transporter who works in the border region and his sister is sold to the Saudis.
“Twenty” by Abdolreza Kahani is also on the film line-up. It tells the story of an owner of a reception hall who, after getting psychiatric help, feels he must close down his business. The workers, whose livelihoods depend on it, try to keep the hall going.
Parviz Parastuii, Mahtab Keramati, Mehran Ahmadi, Alireza Khamseh, Habib Rezaii, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaii stars in this film.
The festival aims to introduce the best Asian films globally, promote cultural and international exchange on a civic level and to discover and foster new talent for the film industry.
