‘Israel has no option but to comply with NPT rules’

TEHRAN, Sept. 14 (MNA) - Israel must comply with the regulations of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said during a joint press conference with his Burkina Faso’s counterpart Bedouma Alain Yoda in Tehran on Monday.

As Israel’s dossier is being examined by the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency “this regime has no choice but to comply with NPT regulations,” Iran’s chief diplomat explained.

It was the first time that Israel’s dossier was discussed in the review conference in New York and the IAEA has taken some actions in this regard, he stated.

Naturally, the IAEA, the Board of Governors, and the international community should react properly to this regime, he noted.

Asked about talks between Iran and the Vienna group (the U.S., France and Russia), Mottaki said Tehran will be ready for negotiations whenever the IAEA announces a date for the purpose.

He also said that some countries should be added to the list of the 5+1 group (the U.S., Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany) because the group’s structure is unfair. He added Iran has proposed a number of countries to be included in the group.

Iran had already announced it would welcome an inclusion of Turkey and Brazil – the two countries that brokered a nuclear fuel swap deal with Iran on May 17 – in the list of negotiators.
