Iran has drawn up roadmap for ties with Africa: FM

TEHRAN, Sept. 14 (MNA) – Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki has said Iran drawn a new roadmap for expanding relations with Africa.

Mottaki made the remarks in a meeting with Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister Bedouma Alain Yoda in Tehran on Monday.

He said trades, investment and joint projects are the base of the economic cooperation between the two countries.

Iran’s private sector and companies are ready to help run development projects in Africa, he added.

He went on to say that Iran-Burkina Faso ties have been based on friendship and the two sides have been enjoying good political relations over the past years.

Elsewhere, Mottaki said the two countries discuss important regional and international issues.

The Iranian minister also highlighted the important role Burkina Faso plays in maintaining stability and peace in West Africa.

Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister Bedouma Alain YODA, for his part, said Ouagadougou is ready to utilize Tehran’s experience in political, economic and cultural areas.

He also thanked Iran for adopting new policy toward Africa, saying his country is interested to use Iran’s experience in energy sector, car manufacturing, road and damn construction.

The two sides agreed to provide a framework for regulating cooperation between their joint economic committees.
