Iran’s new consulate building opens in Kuala Lumpur
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 14 (MNA) – Iran’s new consulate building was opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday.
The building was opened as Tehran’s ambassador to Malaysia Mohammad-Mehdi Zahedi, local officials, the Kuala Lumpur-based Iranian media, and Iranian citizens residing in Malaysia were present.
Ambassador Zahedi said it was necessary to establish a new consulate building with enough space to accommodate the increasing population of Iranians in Malaysia.
The ambassador said students constitute more than 80 percent of those who refer to the mission for consular affairs. He added the number of Iranians in Malaysia has reached over 70,000.
The ambassador also said through efforts by President Ahmadinejad the new Iranian school will be launched in Kuala Lumpur soon.
The new school has been established in a place where Iranian community is residing.
